Madrepietra - is a limestone of sedimentary origin extracted in Puglia at the foot of the Gargano. The extraction area represents the first mining center in Southern Italy and the second national basin after those in Carrara.
Constituted for 96% of Calcium Carbonate, which allows to reach exceptional levels of compactness and resistance to atmospheric agents, the Madrepietra presents with shades oscillating between beige, ivory and our rosé (depending on the variety), with frequent veins most often thin and sinuous that characterize the surface.
The material performances made her the protagonist both for the interior decoration and for external artifacts, such as the decorations in the palace of Caserta, numerous buildings in Rome, or the Church of San Giovanni Rotondo by Renzo Piano.
